Chatuchak Weekend Market

Every Saturday and Sunday, a few km north of Bangkok city center, you'll find Chatuchak Weekend Market, which claims to be the largest in the world, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each weekend. It's certainly large enough to keep you busy with several hours of eating, browsing, shopping, and people-watching.

In the endless lanes and alleyways of the market, you'll find everything from the standard Thai knick-knacks to exotic pets to a little corner where musicians gather to try out the instruments for sale in nearby shops. Oh, and lots and lots of food.

Chatuchak market is open from early morning until sunset on weekends. A small number of stores remain open during the week.

Getting there

Take the subway (MRT) to Kamphaengphet station, or the Skytrain (BTS) to Mo Chit. From either of these stations you'll see signs as well as large crowds heading to the market.
